Deputy Secretary Brad McGrath Gets Paid Travel to Commute to Work Costing Taxpayers $30k+

It has been uncovered by Joey Peters of the Santa Fe Reporter that Deputy Secretary Brad McGrath  of the New Mexico Department of Health has been getting paid to commute to Santa Fe from Roswell.  This really doesn't sound fair since we have employees who travel from Albuquerque to Santa Fe and vice-versa on their own dime.  Since McGrath took the deputy position, he has been paid out $30,000 on top of his $115,000 salary thru March.  Travel expenses include hotel and meals.

Have a look at the story for yourself.  There are many documents to support the claims.
http://www.sfreporter.com/santafe/article-7431-hidden-fees.html

It may be worth inquiring about how to get the same benefits that McGrath enjoys.  Getting paid per diem for meals, travel and hotel room for when you don't feel like driving back home sounds like a great deal to me.  How about you?

What are your thoughts?

  1. Talk about corruption at it's finest. That article is a very interesting read. As a taxpayer people should be very pissed. This type of behavior reeks of the Richardson Administration. His exempts took advantage like this in the same style. McGrath is a slimy little man to be doing this. Something tells me he had help figuring out this scheme, on the advice of one head of Accounting, Bernice Gonzales. To think that one of the crookedest HR Managers in State Government, Teresa Padilla, is the DOH records custodian just shows that the New Secretary is just as Worthless as the Old one. No one seems to clean house at DOH. Hector Balderas, if you want my vote for Attorney General, audit these corrupt fools!! Big Bad Jim Green get your hands out of your pockets, stop staring at the floor and get involved in straightening out this situation. Did you forget just a year ago Brad McGrath and Mike Landon were trying to oust your ass out of there along with your work wife Torres. DOH, home of Corrupt and Spineless management, Pathetic!!!

  2. McGrath (or any person) taking state money to travel from his home in Roswell to his place of employment in Santa Fe violates the state's constitution:

ANTIDONATION CLAUSE OF NEW MEXICO CONSTITUTION (Art. IX, Sec. 14):
(Sec. 14. [Aid to private enterprise; veterans' scholarship program; student loans; job opportunities.]
    Statute text
Neither the state nor any county, school district or municipality, except as otherwise provided in this constitution, shall directly or indirectly lend or pledge its credit or make any donation to or in aid of any person, association or public or private corporation .....

DOH knew better and did it anyway!

  3. Isn't that what they are doing with Anita Westbrook too? She gets banished from SATC and sent to Roswell Rehab as their Administrator while collecting per diem along the way. I guess that is additional funding for her to keep Mirin in the picture down there too.

  4. What I don't understand is why those of us in DOH that have to do extensive travel are told we can't get a hotel room and need to drive back the same day. Then we are told that the state car can't go to our house (because of those who abuse it)making our work day even longer. Then DOH tells us that we can't get OT or Comp time and that we need to flex it the same week regardless of what paperwork is due. DOH employees are being abused on a daily basis while those is high position abuse the rules that govern all of us.

The Gov don't care because some of these abusers are connected to the Gov's right hand man from Roswell. We all know who he is, right!

I think more digging should be looked into who authorized Brad's POs. Was it him? and if so doesn't that break some rules that DFA should look into?

  5. If I were a betting man I say that Bernice or Deniece Pierce authorized the PO's. These two do whatever they damn well please, wether it be legal or not.

What Brad McGrath is doing is truly wrong. However, why do we focus soo much attention on the Bernice Gonzales's, Denice Pierce's, Jim Green's, Michael Mulligan's, Chadburn's, Teresa "stinky" Padilla's of the world? Their lives are pathetic, and how significant are they to this world going round? NOT. In their zip code they think they are, lol. Looking at what happened in Oklahoma is real life and tragic! However, I agree that if these Crooks have done wrong, they should be brought to justice, PRICKS!

  7. For several years state employees were denied raises by Gov. Martinez. Her reason was that people all over the state are suffering and she wouldn't approve raises for state employees. Well Gov. Martinez New Mexicans are still suffering while Brad McGrath orders room service in Santa Fe to do his job which is a Santa Fe job, not a Roswell job. Fix this, people are suffering Governo! People are starting to pay attention to what this Governor is doing and not saying.

    1. Is this why the new Secretary is not in the Runnels Building anymore...... I hear that she is located in the Montoya Building. Does anyone know why?

    2. Not only have we not gotten raises, we have lost take home pay in the form of higher cost of benefits, greater contributions to PERA, etc. You really put it into perspective with this comment. And it reminds me that contractors are STILL being used by DOH to fill job previously held by state employees and for vastly higher pay. It is disgusting.

  8. You would hide your face too if you inherited this corrupt Agency. It's probably so that "The Circle of Trust" doesn't ruin her too, LMFAO.

  9. Just another nameless hardworker in DOH5/24/13, 12:17 AM

It is so discouraging to the many, many hard working state employees who do their jobs and then some, often without compensation for extra time, extra effort, and sleepless nights to hear that yet again our Governor has shown how little she values us. I bet if Brad was getting this little bonus in his paychecks, others are too. I hope someone follows up on this!

  10. Enjoyed the articles in both the Santa Fe Reporter and the Santa Fe New Mexican about Rick May and the NMFA scandal. Enjoyed them because it exposed Duffy Rodriguez for the back stabbing, coniving Bitch that she is. Her protégés Mike Mulligan and Bernice Gonzales fair no better. To quote Rick May, when Keith Gardner told him he had gotten him a Deputy DFA Secretary named Duffy, "She causes trouble wherever she goes.". That was putting it mildly. I think the same could be said about Mike and Bernice. Let us hope that the Robert Ortiz trial sees the light of day and that these cockroaches are exposed for who they are.

  11. Oh... the corruptions runs wide and deep! Check this out... the DOH employee with oversight of case management agencies (wait for it.....wait for it...) has a vested interest in a case management agency. Click on the link. You will see she is listed as Assistant Director. This is based on the federal Dun & Bradstreet database (last updated March 2013)..... sounds like it might be a conflict of interest and MISCONDUCT...

  12. Anyone see new article in SFR? Seems old Bradley is not only one on the gravy train!!

  13. Just read the article. Sickening! I noticed that Jim Green was the approval signature on the documents. Come on Jimmy Boy get some balls and morals and question these transactions. You've already made your top three years for your retirement. Retire already or do you still get a thrill out of being an ass with DOH employees. Remember Jimmy what goes around comes around, you might want to remind Bernice and the "Circle" about that.

  14. Brad Bobblehead (wasn't he one of the three stooges?) is probably the number one complaint identified by BARF (Bullying Abuse Retaliation, and Fraud). When he oversaw the Rehab center in Roswell he came in as a threatening little maniac to everyone and a demanding little twit with no direction...just intimidation. He suffers from "Little Man" and Napoleonic complex, and is responsible for bringing in Dr. Babik Mirin everywhere because both worked at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell (until Braddy boy got canned as CEO...but not until he ran off all the doctors in that town affiliated with that poor excuse of a hospital). What's best for New Mexico is to get rid of this little 666 beast.

    1. Bradley took loads of money in the form of per diem for over a year and now he is having Anita Westbrook oversee the Roswell Rehab and paying her per diem and use of a state car to go to Roswell every week for a couple days to act as "administrator"! From what I hear, she us changing all the programs and employee jobs! I did hear that the employees banned together to get Mirin out of their facility and they succeeded! You go Roswell Rehab!

      Delete
    2. So Mirin is not at the state hospital anymore and he is out of Roswell? Why is he still at SATC?????

      Delete
    3. DOH will wish they had responded responsibly to Westbrook's years of negligent and incompetent management at numerous facilities once the SATC whistleblower's lawsuits are settled!

  15. I know it is a little off topic, but Congratulations to Santa Fe DOH, today is that scum bucket James " Jim" Green's last day. The jackass finally retired. Let's hope his retirement is short lived and miserable the way he made so many employees lives miserable the last few years. On a side note, today is ASD Director Richard Crespin's last day. He was replaced by a guy named Leonard Tapia, and unfortunately Bernice Gonzales and Ivy Martinez are already all over his nuts. Be careful Leonard, be very careful or else they will teach you the hard way.

    1. Jonathan is this website still live because DOH has not changed I believe that DOH Supervisors need to get some major training on how to treat employees we are human beings not animals we do have feelings and we do get sick of the bullying that goes around in the departments but damn why is it always the same people on the third floor that bully employees how do they get away with it on a daily basis it's sickening to my stomach seeing employees get picked on daily what do we do to help the ones we see get bullied, please help us help them.
The new adminstration the secretary, the new asd directors, no help they ignore what they see or what they get no responses. I won't say names at this time because if anyone is reading this they know who we are talking about doh please give your supervisors mandatory training test them on it you tested us on our civel rights test test them and make them earn the supervisory responsibilities it could help doh be a much better place to work.

  16. Yet another Registered Nurse quit NMRC. Nurses are working mandatory 12 hour shifts. Contract/Agency nurses who have no rehab experience are fouling up documentation (when they deem to even document). I understand that there is a sexual harassment suit that is going to be filed after an employee was fired after complaining repeatedly about this disgusting situation.
What in the hell is happening at NMRC and the rest of the DOH?
